Truby Trio - Universal Love feat. Marcus Begg (Ame Rootdown Round

speaking of Truby Trio, they played a DJ cracking DJ set at Harry's
Ballroom in Detroit last saturday (tucked inbetween Woodward and Cass.)
We went to see Jason Hogans rock the :Brownstudy live PA but then
stayed for the Trio too... lots of tech-ed up nu jazz and
brazilian/jazzanova style grooves. Well worth it, a nice crowd and lots
of ages and races wigglin' out on the little dancefloor. Boddingtons
on tap, bonus.
:brownstudy live set was really fun and great words on the mic and well
as music production... Jason (plus another fellow dreadlock'ed MC with
him) obviously having a good time with it and that translated well into
crowd appeal and smiles. Props to John Stoll was opening DJ (and
organizer?),,,, his selections extra nice including some Roy Ayers and
west london vibe, deep and thick mood-setting grooves towards the
beginning. Another great night in detroit with the COLOR collective.
(now recalling this was the same crew who put together "Green Light
GO!" Movement pre-party at Corktown with Shake, Tejada and Dan Bell
upstairs, Stoll and Plasakio downstairs, and Jason Hogans and some
XLR8R Dj's outside on the back porch/BBQ/hip-hop zone. Quality!)
