A highlight of the Futuresonic festival is a stunning event featuring
a world premier of a major new audiovisual commission by the world
renowned Mexican electronica pioneer Murcof and AntiVJ, alongside a
rare and highly anticipated UK performance from Icelandic composer
Johann Johannsson and the Iskra quartet, plus support from
experimental folktronica artist Denis Jones.
World Premier and Futuresonic Commission: Murcof and AntiVJ are
collaborating on a new site-specific audiovisual installation in
which live music, projected imagery, and a huge layered, semi-
transparent installation will create immersion in a broken,
multifaceted cosmos of a million stars and abstract shapes.
Produced in association with Hey! Manchester, this event celebrates
the genres of contemporary classical and minimalist electronica and
gets the festival underway with a distinguished cast of performers,
noted for their intelligent and forward thinking ideas and brilliance
in reworking classic tropes. The event will also feature support from
the Last.fm DJ team, a pair of selectors with a wealth of your
knowledge in their playlists.
