Last week's Wild Kingdom featured a tip of the hat to Cologne, Germany. So much techno, etc. comes out of Germany that one could specialize in the output of one big city and still keep very busy... Anyway, the playlist for last week's set is available at http://www.kfjc.org/music/playlist.php?i=32988 .

Tonight I'll be plying a set of Orb tunes to respectfully mark the passing of Andy Hughes. There'll be a bit of Michael Jackson action as well, but not of the sort you might usually expect. Thanks go to Forrest Fang who provided a piece of the puzzle. Programming has declared "Freak Week" starting this Sunday night at 10PM, and continuing until 10PM the following Sunday. This means the gloves come off, and DJs can do anything they want as long as they satisfy the legalities by providing a Station ID each hour and stay out of trouble with the FCC. I'm thinking of doing a Detroit set - maybe a Detroit ambient set (Tony Drake, some CC, Detroit Escalator Company, John Beltran, etc). Or maybe I'll just bring up two turntables to augment the three already in the master studio and play 3 hours of locked groove insanity. Suggestions? Bring them on... This coming Friday (the 3rd) I'm spending some of my holiday time filling in during the 10A-2P time slot. I'll be playing a set of classic soul, acid jazz, funk - you get the picture....

Limited time archives for KFJC programming are now available at http://www.kfjc.org/broadcast_archives/ . Send comments and suggestions to i...@kfjc.org .

"The Wild Kingdom" airs on KFJC-FM 89.7, Saturday night/Sunday Morning, 12A-3A (8A-10A GMT). Potential listeners outside the San Francisco Bay area can find a webcast at http://www.kfjc.org/netcast/index.php . Present and past Wild Kingdom playlists are also archived at kfjc.org. You can also check out archived playlists from my first KFJC show "Just Desserts" that was on Fridays 10P-2A from 1992 through 1999. Archived playlists exist for that show starting from Fall 1995 to New Year's Eve 1999/2000, so you can see what what I'm up to these days is pretty much consistent with what I was up to all along.

If you do tune in (especially via the web), please take a little time to let me know your locale. I'm also interested in promo music from all over and in promoting local (San Francisco Bay area) techno-type events. If you want to do some promotion for an event, contact the KFJC promotions department at pr...@kfjc.org to arrange ticket giveaways and/or to send information for inclusion in our concert outlook. Thanks to those who have sent promo music so far.

Regards,

Richard Hester
