dayem....so many sweet records coming out of late and I am just catching up... things I have been feeling lately:
new (or old) Dennis Young on Rush Hour... liquid liquid percussionist smokin 12" really and big ups to RH for including flextone on it too... sort of a sampler for his Old Dogs, New Tricks LP Sterac Electronics - Atlantis EP more deep dark electro from steve... it's good to hear great music from him again after the Sterac stuff started getting a little stale. This one has the obvious drexciyan influences. Aroy Dee - Glow/Boracic MOS Recordings more deep goodness from MOS... he's rockin the 707 better than larry heard at times on his records... a friend of mine played before Derrick May in Spain last year and when he dropped The Planets, Derrick came running to the decks to find out what it was. Carl Craig - Just Another Day yah mixed opinions from a lot of people on this list but I like it a lot... I am a sucker for the deep C2 outings like BFC and Psyche and I think this release is kind of going back to those days and unless you really got into Landcruising era Carl, don't know if you are going to like it. Recloose - Dust yah it's catchy and not my favorite Recloose record but I really like Fat Freddy's Drop and the Dukie vocals work for me... I dunno about record of the year but I can't wait for the album and I hope it is as good all around. Recloose spends a lot of time on his music so I am sure the quality will be high. Mesak - Modern Stalking - Klakson great record by 1/2 of Mr Velcro Fastner, not as special as the first Mesak on Klakson but still standout stuff amongst a lot of electro records being released. The new Dexter is also pretty hot too! on another note, more store closings... our local shop I've been helping out at for years closed its storefront last saturday but will be going solely online.
