Well, the new Kraftwerk 12" landed on my desk this morning.

so - I legged it to the record shop on my lunch to borrow their deck and
check it.

only flicked through, so these are first impressions......

I admit I was expecting it to be pretty s**t, but I was pleasantly
surprised I think.
it's only a t.p, so no track info or title info.

A Side - One mix taking up the whole side. First up, it doesn't sound much
like the original. The breathing and chain mechanism rhythms are gone, as
are the famous synth stabs...... This mix is probably what you'll hear in
the clubs - and I think you will hear it in the clubs too. Pretty modern
sounding, although sort of sounds like a tech-house of the late nineties
sort of thing. The thing I can most liken it to is a chain reaction record
I think. A pretty pleasant modern club track with snippets of tour de
france vocals on. Pretty much an instrumental mix. I can see quite a lot of
people playing this.

B Side - 2 mixes, both 'vocal' versions, a little more abstract than the A
side, some clicks added to the rhythms to give it a slightly more modern
and complex feel than the A side. Both sounded pretty OK on first listen.

so, in summary, quite a pleasant surprise. Sorry about the brief
descriptions, but I only flicked through. Overall, it doesn't sound like
Kraftwerk much, but I think thats a good thing? I'm looking forward to the
LP now I think, I hope there's a little more experimental stuff - could be
interesting I think......
