Part of the reason we appear to be favoured in London (and it's not just
London, there's anecdotal evidence there's a bit of an underground
electronic music 'renaissance' in Europe too) is that the atmosphere for
innovative music, the appreciation - and certainly the sales volumes and
ratios are simply better. Sorry to be so blunt.

I've communiucated with at least 2 well known Detroit musicians within this
field recently. They've both lamented poor sales especially in the last six
months - also, both mention a kind of biting, cynical (seemingly a cynicism
informed by ignorance rather than anything else) atmosphere surrounding
modern electronic music in Detroit and it's major players. Whether percieved
or actual, it comes over as a lack of real respect or appreciation for the
people who've made the scene what it is (they will tend to be the artists
who've been around longer than most of us.)

It has to be said on the whole also that America is not the major place for
underground movements of any kind. Avant-garde music ('cause that's what
we're talking about) included.
