It's funny but I:Cube played here in Melbourne too with Gilb-R and I thought
it was very average - formulaic even! Nice tracks but there was no
personality in it. He said he plays "weird" stuff but I didn't hear any of
that. Gilb-R was quirkier - he played 1999 (!!) and Talking Heads (though
everyone else does that now too when they're trying to be 'quirky') - but
even that was kinda not working for me. I was let down. It's all down to
personal opinion, I guess, which is fine. I went to Destiny's Child on the
Monday with so-so expectations (it was to DAT, no live band, two original
members have left), all the local house folks were there (DC have an
incredible boundary-crossing fan-base here) and I had a ball, so.....
