When I first heard Model 500 (Sonic Sunset), I immediately thought of early 
Cabaret Voltaire (Red Mecca, 2x45, Voice of America, 3 Mantras, etc).  'Deep 
Space' and Infiniti too, though to different degrees.  

I'd never compare Atkins to the Orb any more than I'd compare Cabaret Voltaire 
to Pink Floyd.

The music of the artists you mention above, to my ears at least, are coming 
from a very different place.
