Berlin [EMAIL PROTECTED] rocks. Maybe some parts are like that. But we either
didn't get in to those - difficulties on the door at Weekend Friday and
Watergate Saturday (though I have been in before) or avoided them via the
helpful advice of 313s own Berlin bible Roman.

As far as I'm concerned it's all about a city that's both full of history and
fabulous old architecture yet's as decaying-industrial and counter-culture as
you like. I haven't been to all the clubs on the planet (yet) so I don't know
for sure but somehow I suspect Berghain's up there. Massive. A maze.
Incredible soundsystem. Which just churns out that wonderful sound of
continuous hard tech like some faceless machine (no DJs on podiums there). Get
there on Saturday night, if you like you can leave on Sunday night. People
wandering around naked. All sorts of strangeness afoot. I wouldn't like to do
it too often but it's fun now and then. And that's just one place. We managed
to visit 6 places over the course of Friday, Saturday, Sunday and all were good
in some way or other - Maria and Sternradio also get a special mention. Thank
goodness I stayed in bed late on Sunday night (= 3am Monday morning) when 2 of
our party had a sudden rush of blood to the head and decided to go out again
managing to go to 4 venues before we enticed them back to the hostel with text
messages an hour before we were due to leave Monday dinner time. Apparently
the place they left last (some mad gay club under a railway arch on
Alexanderplatz) was still going strong. Where else are you gong to find that
at 11am on a Monday? OK Ibiza but this is a respectable capital city - maybe
Marsell's gaff (sadly missing from my CV, must mend this soon).
