i don't think that you're hitting on the main problem.
i think that open source code has a very different outlook
on the world than plan 9. it's very hard (and frustrating) to
deal with the culture clash when porting.
i don't think it's a case of laziness.

you need the arguments -z zonerefreshprog set for ndb/dns
to send a notification. you'll probablly need to roll your own zonerefreshprog.
(there isn't one in the distribution.)

Perhaps your SATA controller isn't recognised by Plan 9? sdata.c
contains
case (0x24DB<<16)|0x8086: /* 82801EB (ICH5) */
but perhaps yours has a different did (device id)? What's lspci (or

Hi,
I'am struggling to get dns zonetransfers working from
plan9 to a Unix box.
The Unix box is one of the dnsslave= entries so it should
be alowed to do the transfer. I get a valid packet TCP packet
back, it just contains zero answers to my query.
A snippet of my /lib/ndb/local - below.

that depends entirely on the originating project. when folks have
ported existing open-source applications in the past, results have
been mixed. some projects have been willing to merge any changes or
additions needed to support plan 9 (although in every such case i'm

I just tried to install plan9 on a machine at work. At partdisk
it tells me
The following disk devices were found.
sdD0 - TEAC DVD+RW DV-W58E D.0C09/14/03
Disk to partition (sdD0)[sdD0]:
No mention of the hard disk. Typing sdC0 at the prompt doesn't help.
Neither does turning off DMA.
I was just wondering ...
If a port for plan9 using APE or native that where derived from from
GPL or others. Are they considered forks of the original or are they
eventually going to be merged in.
