The only cultural advantage LA has over NY is tha
itself (OK, so I paraphrased it and made it sound
nicer. Sue me ;-)). I think this is a case where I'm completely with the
Abisource team: write up something with wxWindows so we can compare that
to what we've got.
I think it is safe to say that in the Open Source world, usually, the
best
when a document wants a font the host platform doesn't provide.

r Python you just need to parse the Abi-word DTD and do the
manipulations out side of the app. I could even see a whole field of
componetized helper apps developing that then could be combined with Abiword in
exciting ways (and this would fit nicely with the Unix tradition of
componetized tools).
Oo, oo, yes, please. This way I wouldn't have to keep setting the
ABIWORD_FONTPATH. I could just put it in a file and forget about it ;-)
