I guess it matters if it's a 64 bit processor and a 64 bit version of Windows. But there shouldn't be any trouble downgrading from a 64 bit version of Vista to the 32 bit version of Win XP if your processor is only a 32 bit edition. Your machine must have come with a 32 bit Vista edition
