Folks: For the International Day for the Disabled, I am working on some special stories. One of them is about the need for personality development amongst persons with disability and if the environment they grow up and study (particularly in a special school) somewhat affect their social skills. How far it is a hindrance when a disabled person tries to impress upon a prospective employer or a life partner (if he has to undergo the formality of meeting the person before they make up their mind). There is a notion that the disability itself has to be blamed for personality inadequacies, what is your contention; will you blame the environment or the disability? Please share anecdotes or research studies.
My next story is about the status of PWD act and if enhancements are needed. I am particularly looking for NGO perspective. I would like to know whether the act has made a difference and is effective. How far the institutions the act has created such as CCPD's in the states and in the centre are effective and what can be done to enable them to accomplish the objectives of their creation? As you said that it says "web layout view", please try to change to the normal, or print layout (recommended).
