if you use jaws 10 than it will speak battery status. if you use jaws 12 it
will say ac connected recharging battery.

If it is not charging it will tell the status when you press insert shift b.
I am using HP laptop.
On 9/21/11,
I use system tray by pressing insert plus f11 and down arrow to gauge
remaining battery power
