I want to switch from office 2003 to office 2007. But I have heard that the
updated version of the software can not open the files of the previous version.
Is it so? If so, does it need any converting tool? If yes, what tool is it, and
where can I getit from?

at present, i am using ms 2007 and i can open my all previous documents of
ms 2003 without any problem.

You can open your previous documents in office 2007 but you can't open
office 2007 documents in previous versions of office. you need to
install extra tool called fileformats.exe.If you need, I can upload it
for you. If you want to open your office 2007 documents in other
computer
A point to bear in mind: If you open docx files in office 2003 and
edit it, you may have trouble in opening the same document in office
2007. Henceforth I suggest that docx files opened in office 2003 get
saved in doc format.
