Mind you, IDBI is the bank where Mr. K. Ramakrishna a totally blind person had rose up to general manager. I am reminded of my high school which refused admission to a totally blind girl immediately after I had passed out in matriculation from there standing second in general merit list of the region. Refusal was on the ground that she would not be able to write her notebooks by herself........
Fantastic. On a related note, I do not find working draft of new disability law up to the mark and worth raising a whole moment to have new statute in place....... More on it later...... From: Asudani, Rajesh Sent: Thursday, November 25, 2010 4:47 PM To: 'vib-in...@googlegroups.com'; 'accessindia@accessindia.org.in' Subject: Axe falls on totally blind in financial sector recruitment Friends What I had long apprehended has come to pass. Now, it seems totally blind would not get job even in financial sector. a corrigendum and a recently issued advertisement of IDBI and a notification of LIC clearly stipulate that only low vision candidates, or those visually impaired having impairment between 40 and 70% may apply. They cite government guidelines in their support. I am afraid list of identified jobs does not identify bank officers/clerks jobs for blind, but does so for Low vision. This is despite technology and all. So, the only recourse available is to compel the government immediately to identify these jobs for blind also. Anyway, identification is due in 2010. Don't know whether government would wait for new law which does away with identification altogether. Friends, come up with suggestions and activities to claim back our work.
