Subject: Bombay High Court

Dear Kanchan,

I met a person recently who needs a reader/scribe for his job in a hospital in
Mumbai.

His job involves reading what is written by the doctor in the prescription and
advising/counselling the patients accordingly. It is a govt hospital and the
volume of the work is large and he can't rely on help from here and there.

I understand there is no device to read the hand written notes. He has explored
all other possibilities.

He has been paying from his pocket for the assistant (Rs 2000 or so every
month).
It is now becoming difficult and is considering quitting the job. He has about
15 years of service in the hospital.

I think this request should also be considered as a reasonable accommodation,
where technology may not be available.

Warm regards,

Rama

thanks to all but let me clarify:
1. at this stage I need the list of visually challenged working in the
Maharashtra government, the Maharashtra Public Sector Undertakings and
Universities in Maharashtra.

2. I dont need a list of general requirements from all of you, I need the
requirements of these specific employees who with these softwares, gadgets and
devices can do their work more efficiently.

3. The list of the softwares, gadgets and devices are listed on the Maharashtra
Social Welfare website.
4. The employees have to choose from this list and let us know immediately.
5. The website is supposed to be accessible.
6. The list is also available with NAB, XRCVC and I am sure with the NFB.

7. Once again this order does not apply to Bankers or banks.

.Kanchan

Dear Mam,
The list of some, if not complete, VI Bankers can be obtained from VIB India
Group’s moderator and Co-moderator, Mr. Rajesh Asudani and Mr.
Vamshi respectively.

As far as gadgets and assistive technology/software are concerned, we people in
banks generally require:
A computer, a printer, a scanner and assistive software like SRS, OCR etc.
Fortunately, in my office (ZO Metro, Allahabad Bank, Kolkata), I have been
provided with all these tools and even some additional as per my requirements.
However, still I use the demo version of most of the assistive software.
