Dear Friends, St. Xavier’s College, XRCVC -Viviana extension is happy to announce an online workshop on the theme “*Essentials of Enhancing Keyboard skills with NVDA & JAWS Part-1*” under its Tech Roshni series – A step at bridging the digital divide for blind and low vision persons. This Workshop is supported by the *Dhun Pestonji Parakh Discretionary Trust*.
Computer keyboard commands are crucial for blind users as they provide efficient and direct access to various functions and applications without relying on mouse navigation. By memorizing keyboard commands, visually impaired users can navigate software and operating systems swiftly, enhancing their productivity and independence. These commands often replace complex mouse interactions, making tasks like file management, document editing, and web browsing more accessible. Keyboard commands also facilitate efficient multitasking, allowing users to switch between applications and perform tasks simultaneously. In short, they contribute to a smoother workflow by reducing the time and effort required to perform common computing tasks, thereby empowering blind individuals to use computers more effectively in both professional and personal circumstances. The workshop covers effective uses of these key commands with popular screen readers. *Eligibility*: participants should have good knowledge of keyboard, typing and screen reader.
