LUDHIANA: The district administration and Mother Child Hospital, after
taking care of Nazia (35), a blind woman who was found from the city's
railway station around two months ago handed her and her baby girl
Noor Fatima alias Mannat to Swami Ganga Nand Bhoori Wale International
Foundation, Talwandi Dham, on Wednesday. Nazia boarded a train in
Gorakhpur her home town in UP for Fazilka in Punjab, and then came to
Ludhiana, while begging in trains. All along she was trying to search
for her husband Akbar, who had deserted her after she started losing
her eyesight.

Nazia was pregnant when she was found near the railway station in pain
on July 12 by a sympathetic rickshaw puller who brought her to the
Civil Hospital. Since then, she was being looked after for free by the
hospital's Mother Child wing, where she also gave birth to her
daughter on September 1. Due to the personal intervention of deputy
commissioner Rajat Agarwal, it was decided that both mother and
daughter would be handed over to Talwandi Dham. Agarwal assured Nazia
that the foundation members would take good care of them, and as soon
as the district administration came to know about her husband, they
would make sure to unite them.

The mother and daughter were both handed over to representatives of
Talwandi Dham in the presence of deputy commissioner Rajat Agarwal,
civil surgeon Dr Renu Chhatwal, senior medical officer Dr Parvinderpal
Singh Sidhu, and the foundation's representatives Kuldip Singh and
Bibi Jasvir Kaur.
