*My Charter as a V.I person (International Day of Persons with
Disabilities)*

1. Be polite & remain polite to everyone. Let it be your habit.

2. Smile and keep smiling at every sweet, harsh, crude or insulting
words and situation

3. Appreciate, admire and express gratefulness at even the smallest
favour by others specially the sighted.

4. Be responsive to one and all, without exception. Always reply a
call, a missed call or massage, how-so-ever un-important to you. Never
presume the other person will understand your silence because of your
blindness.

5. Offer help to others for whatever you are capable of. Your offer
is not lightly to be accepted.

6. If you are low vision, do not try to pose as fully sighted. Others
can easily make out. No one likes to be fooled! Help is held back, if you
pose!

7. Avoid being authoritative with subordinates, if you are lucky to
have them! No able bodied person likes to be ordered by a disabled!

8. Try to get rid of the habit of using your disability as a
qualification! It does not confer rights upon you. This makes us a subject
of pity & charity only!

9. Donate money and blood, whenever you can!

10. Donate your eyes, if your Cornea is healthy. Ailments like RP, drying
up of optic nerve or Macular degeneration, Etc., do not normally spoil the
Cornea. These will be gorged out only after our death!

11. Pledge donating your body or organs, in case of brain death! As such
a donation will make you a living memory in your society!

12. Marry but produce children only after Genetic counseling! Else adopt
daughters. They will be your for all your life!!!

13. Support the Disabled persons by patronising their endeavours, like
subscribing to the YouTube channels started by them and pressing the like
button for each episode. This may help them earn a little more!

14. Support the disabled persons by purchasing books written by them and
promoting them amongst friends and relatives. This helps in bringing about
a positive change, in attitudes & perspective towards the disabled
community.

15. Ask for help explicitly without waiting for others to understand your
need, on their own. Thank them for the help profusely. Sighted people like
it!!!

*Let’s make sure we are useful to this world!*
