Dear Friends, Post my mail on development on talking ATMs, I got calls from our VI banker colleagues for more info and how to approach their own banks. I prepared a NOTE ON IMPLEMENTING TALKING ATM SOLUTION FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED BY INDIAN BANKS and mailed to them.
I thought it’s a good idea to make it available on the list so that it can be used by other friends also. This one is a little lengthy document which is in PDF format has following contents: · First 5 pages are my write up. · IBA letter while circulating standard document on talking ATMs to all banks chiefs dated 27/02/2013. · IBA circulated document on STANDARDS FOR ACCESSIBLE ATM. · IBA ‘PROCEDURAL GUIDELINES FOR BANKING FACILITIES TO VISUALLY IMPAIRED PERSONS’ circular to all bank chiefs dated 18/11/2008. · RBI circular on ‘Need for Bank Branches / ATMs to be made accessible to persons with disabilities’ dated 13/04/2009. · RBI circular ‘Banking facilities to the visually challenged’ dated 04/06/2008. Please download the same from my dropbox link https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8123992/NOTE%20ON%20IMPLEMENTATION%20OF%20TALKING%20ATMS%20FOR%20BLIND.PDF Hope this will be a useful document. I am having pleasure to see the developments on talking ATMs as from day one I have worked on talking ATM project since its prototypes, test reports on prototypes, as part of IBA subcommittee, idea to have standard document on talking ATM in India, contributing immensely in its preparation, closely working with development team of all 3 ATM manufacturers, conceptualizing workflow for all 3 vendors where each vendor use different technologies with a challenged to maintain a standard flow, creating accessible user manuals on talking ATM usage, spreading awareness and so on. It is a fruitful journey of 3 years on this project.
