Now, hone your skills via web
Staff Reporter
CHENNAI: An online e-learning portal - www.careerstrokes.com - that aims to
motivate students and young professionals and provide them with career
enhancement skills was launched on Monday.
A business venture of the former Indian cricket captain, Kris Srikkanth, the
website has 12 modules that contain pre-loaded lectures on a variety of topics
that include leadership skills, stress management, communication skills,
decision-making and negotiation. "We have made the website rich in terms of
graphics and visual content and all live lectures will be webcast from the
studios," he said. There will be five live classes a month, including at least
one by Mr. Srikkanth.
He said the teaching approach would be based on translating the concept of
cricket for an easy understanding of complex management problems. "In a country
like India where cricket is nothing less than a religion, citing real time
analogies from the world of cricket to explain the issues of life would go a
long way," he said. "What we learn in classes and what we do in real life is
different," said Mr. Srikkanth.
Online learning with webinars, online discussions with experts, interviews with
successful managers, theme-based learning and customised audio-visual
interactions will be part of the programme, Mr. Srikkanth said. A 24-hour help
line to assist people with their problems, archives to webcast the missed
sessions and a help desk have also been facilitated in the site for the
registered members, he added.
Mr. Srikkanth said that tie-ups with job portals and universities to cater to
the problems faced by students and professionals are being looked at. "An
online cricket coaching site and an online forum to teach mathematics and
science will be launched soon."
