WORKSHOP ON ACCESSIBLE BANKING FOR THE BLIND
During the last several years initiatives have been taken by banks,
organizations for the blind and individuals to make the banking services
accessible to persons with blindness or low vision. Although much needs to
be done to make all the services totally accessible, visually impaired
persons can take advantage of the available accessible banking services to
make their lives much easier and comfortable.
Thanks to union bank of india for their pioneering efforts in development of
talking ATM, Even now visually impaired persons can go to talking ATMs to
withdraw cash independently, use online banking to pay utility bills,
transfer funds, recharge mobile phone and much more. It has been observed
that majority of visually impaired persons are either not aware of the
accessibility of these services or they have some apprehensions in using
such facilities.
This workshop aims to make visually impaired persons aware of these
extremely useful and empowering tools and give them the knowledge and skills
required to make accessible banking a part of their lives.
