There hasn't been a new bios release for many months.
I've tested a 2.6.21.7 vanilla kernel today, and *very* strangely cpufreq works

I'm not sure, but it seems my laptop is much more quiet now, cpufreq works and
throttling as well! (throttling hasn't been working before).
