I need to move the DC's from the Domain Controllers OU. Can I recreate the Domain
Controller OU elsewhere then link it to the new DC OU or do I need to link it from the
existing Domain Controllers OU.

Hi,
We need to print out our GAL in Exchange 2000 (to produce a hard copy
address book). Ideally it needs to be done regularly by a user - any
ideas...

I've not tried this myself, but I would think you have to link the Default Domain
Controllers Policy to your new OU.
Can I ask why you would want to move the DCs from the default container?

Hi,
As is true with most companies today, we are deploying lots of firewall
rules even down to the division level with their own LANs. We've seen with
our root domain/child domain domain controllers they pick random replication
partners. To avoid putting in a whole lot of n x n conduits in

Mike,
Well we have a college in 45,000 users across 5 campuses. What I have

I fixed the problem by adding the server name to the

If I just did LDAP://DC=domainname,DC=com, it

Perhaps I'm missing the point (again) but if you're using windows 2000 professional
you could just use the UPN.

Where I work, we take the approach that students are dumb. That is why
we try to make the login as easy a possible. I've heard you can actually

That's my exact problem. My boss doesn't want for them to have to do that.
Just use login and username and that is it.

Why do you need more than one domain when you can use OU's? You could have a
place holder domain for the root and then a child domain for all your users
with an OU for each campus. All your users would be logging into the same

I need to prove that two PCs have different SIDs

Thanks,

Just to clarify, are you saying that within a nominal site, e.g. a building,
you would have firewalls separating separate segments?

would make it a secondary... you wouldn't want the administrative overhead of
updating both.
If you
are using W2K and AD, you can make them AD integrated... you get better and more
secure replication that way.
And make sure the DNS servers are on

Brian,
Well
if you're talking about the SIDs and GUIDs in AD, just look at the objectSid and
