[ActiveDir] Force password change at next login

2002-10-28 Thread JoseLaura
For security reasons we had to force a password change at next login. I know how to accomplish this easily in NT 4.0, but I couldn't figure this out in AD, I have over 4K in user accounts, I'll even take doing one OU at a time. Any ideas? Thanks Jose Gomez

Thanks Edward (and others) for the feedback. The tool does look good, but I just noticed the following in the FAQ: Q: Is UPromote compatible with the Compaq SMART RAID disk array controller? A: No. The Compaq SMART RAID disk array controller has a known problem where it sometimes loses data

The other gotcha is that MS say they won't support systems that show problems from it being used. Which maybe isn't a real gotcha for the majority of people but may be something to keep in mind. -Original Message- From: Tony Murray [mailto:tony;mail.activedir.org] Sent: 28 October

This setting is controlled by the pwdLastSet attribute. If the value is set to zero, the user must change the password at next logon. A script would be the easiest way to do this for a number of users. For a sample, see:

Have you looked at the ADSI list at http://www.15seconds.com/listserver.htm ? It may be a little narrow for your needs in that the focus is on ADSI rather than Windows generally. It is a good list however. Tony -- Original Message -- From: Morgan,

Actually, I host a scripting mail list on a Topica server. There's about 750 subscribers and on average 15-20 messages per day. We discuss all scripting languages and software repackaging tools. You can subscribe at http://www.topica.com/lists/scripting. Larry A. Duncan, MCSA/MCSE Directory

You could backup and restore all the system states, or you could do a ldifde export and import of AD. -Original Message- From: STEVEN DANIELS [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Monday, October 28, 2002 2:13 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [ActiveDir] Creating AD test

I am SURE there is an easier way to do it but we have done in the past is to GHOST one of our DCs. We set that box up in our lab - SEIZE FSMO ROLES Use ADSIEDIT to remove the other DCs and away we go. -Original Message- From: STEVEN DANIELS [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]

Take a look at Microsoft Active Directory Migration Tool (ADMT V2). I haven't used it myself, but it appears to have the functionality you're looking for. -Original Message-From: STEVEN DANIELS [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]Sent: Monday, October 28, 2002 11:13To: [EMAIL

Stefano, PrintMig3 is what I have used to copy the print queues to the new server, but I fail to see how it will assist me in repointing 2000 client systems is there something I am missing? -Original Message- From: stefano tufillaro [mailto:stufillaro;hotmail.com] Sent:
