To be correct the behavior is as
followes:
move a file on the same partition into the folder:
compression status of the file will remain as it was before
copy a file on the same partition into the folder:
compression status will be inherited from the folder
move or copy a file of a differen
Check the settings for automatic updates in the My Computer properties. If the system is configured to automatically install and prompt for reboot than yes this sounds about right.
