You're probably right about his use of altiris affecting this.
 
To troubleshoot, have you found anything in the security logs?  Are auditing for these events? If not, it would be a good idea to do so in order to check for this and research what's going on.

Now for a question of my own.....
We have numerous computer learning lab techs on campus but only one seems to be having this problem.
 
About twice a year he calls to say his password has expired again.
We have no policy for password expiration (yet) and when I look in AD his account appears perfectly normal, not expired or locked out.
 
Scoured GPO for any hidden or overlooked possibilities and came up with nothing.
 
One thing comes to mind.....he uses Altiris to reimage his lab machines shortly before the semester starts and I can't help but think it has something to do with the problem. I found a couple of KB articles concerning MACHINE passwords (computername$ -  the one that expires every 30 days by default) but nothing concerning a user password that keeps expiring for no apparent reason.
 
Any ideas?
 
Oh yeah, if I simply reset his password, everything is fine.
