Is there anything one should bear in mind when doing so?

can log4perl be used in a distributed environment... in other words, can i
have multiple apps on multiple systems within the netowrk writing to the log
file?
also, what happenes if the log file is unable to be reached... does the log
app utilize some form of queuing to maintain the logged msgs
the errors to go to SMS, then this is not the way to go.
