Thanks for the replies. I ended up de-installing everything (Python, MySQL,
etc.) and re-installing. It works now, so I suspect the problem was that I
had failed to re-install mxDateTime, a documented requirement for MySQLdb.
Sorry to bother the lists for a boneheaded error ...

rying to finish up a project which will involve
installation on WinNT 4.0 (which is why I'm fiddling with Win2K; it's the closet
thing I have to the NT 4 environment), so any help will be tremendously
appreciated!
