Does anyone have any feedback on this patch? I don't expect it is perfect
or complete, but I'd like to understand if this is the approach you'd expect
for implementing this feature.

Ah, I see. It gives warnings for missing keys, but errors
when the set of parameters don't match up. Yeah,
I guess disabling it is the simplest answer.
