Hello all,
does anyone know whether TDPO v2.2 allows for "dry run" restores &/or a
preview of a restore to validate the media without writing the data, like
SBT does? (I've perused the website & the Redbook, and don't see that it
does.)
thanks!

When I wanted to do this, I wrote a script to run the restore of each
directory/filesystem, but I had to do it one at a time. The following
would be my script with your filesystems on AIX:
dsmc restore /oracle/stage/ -subdir=yes -inactive -pitd=09/02/01
read NOTHING
dsmc restore /sapmnt/SA2/ -su
You can do it with Export Node.

Hi Zoltan,
As Rene has already mentioned - this is done to maximize parallism - so
you have your performance maxed - if it did not work this way you would
have a single stream of data being pulled off a volume - also causing a
bottleneck on this particular HDA.
It is as easy as updating the volum

I would assume the goal here is to speed the restoration process. The only
way to guarantee that happens is to ensure you don't have tape contention
during the restore. At the directory level that is hard unless you use
multiple management classes and tape storage pools.

The Scheduled event is the backup, which was successful.
The Pre-Post Schedule calls a script that runs outside the backup.
The only time I have seen a failed TSM event due to failure of a Post schedule

Actually I have tried every single serialization option. I does not help
because I don't have access to the exclusively locked file.
