I actually had MAXSESSIONS set to 200. When the threshold is reached the
listener replys to the client and throws an error to the log.
My problem was the listener had the port open but not responding to new
sessions. (I only had a few connected sessions at the time).
No acknowledgement, no errors

According to my docs it ought to be possible on MVS server as well.

Probably it isn't so simple but what is "volume of clients" and is it more
than MAXSessions option in your dsmserv.opt (default is 25 if not set) ?

Where are you getting this throughput - LAN or SAN?
LAN-free storage agent transfer relatively small ammounts of metadata over
LAN and you cannot achive best possible peak rates there. For LAN data
transfer you should be able to achieve at least 7-8 MB/s so the problem
could be with TCP/IP setting
Hint 1: Are you using PASSWORDAccess Generate?
Hint 2: I had the same error trying to start onbar when logged as ordinary
user and switched to root using "su". The problem disappeared when "su -"
was used.
My environment: TSM server 4.1.4.1, TSM client 4.1.3, DPI v4.1, IDS 7.31UC4

You can have more than one TSM client directory (with dsm.sys within) and
point to them using different $DSM_DIR values.
Also you can have more than one server stanzas in single dsm.sys and point
to them with different dsm.opt files or as Nicholas Cassimatis pointed to
me recently "dsmc sched -se=
Hi Mark,
use one dsm.sys with several stanzas in it, one for each base node in the cluster and
one for each application node.
I use a shareable dsm.opt with each application node too, and application start and
stop scripts.
One gotcha is that the encrypted password has to be set up on each mach
Hi,
Can anyone tell me what would be the way to run 2 schedulers on 1
machine? I'm trying to implement TSM client on a AIX HACMP configuration
with mutual takeover. I seem to get stuck because of the fact that only 1
dsm.sys can exist.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Suad,
You probably need to increase the MAXSESSIONS option on the TSM server
(in the dsmserv.opt file or using "setopt").
The default value for AIX is 25, which is probably too small for the
number of
clients you have.
Cheers

does TSM backup/restore NTFS alternate data streams and extended attributes (EA data)
of a file?
any comments are appreciated!

I can tell you right now that the QLOGIC card is going to have problems on
the W2K server. Every time you do a fabric update a RSCN is sent out and
QLogic will kill the drives in W2K and require a reboot to get them back.
The fix for this problem is an unreleased driver 8.1.3 that is supposed to
Hi all,
I would like to implement Tivoli decision support on my TSM Server.
In the TDS doc the pre request is UDB 5.2 . I would like to run UDB with
the TDS.
I have UDB ver 7.1. I have tried to connect the TDS to the UDB followed
by the book instructions with no success.
My suspicion is the UDB v
Hi,
Sometimes I face problem while starting automated backup of Informix using
Tivoli Storage Manager. I have AIX 4.3.3 with TSM 3.7.0 and TDP for Informix
version 1.0 and Informix is 7.24 UC3. The backup is scheduled at 00:05:00 in
TSM. Any idea why it is happening?
I also backup Informix contro
