I am trying to use the web client through an ssh tunnel. I've configured my port
forwarding to connect to port 1581 on the remote machine. I can see the console with
the
4 options (backup, restore, archive,retrieve) but when I click one of them, I get
error ANS2600S, blah blah connection
Before the APAR, the Search=yes parameter allowed TSM to grab all tapes,
not just those with category FF00. The APAR fixed this misbehavior which
apparently was introduced at 4.2.1. Grabbing ALL the tapes in the
library, regardless of their category, including tapes with other
"libraries" data on
Please explain more, as I don't see how anything would change. Inserted
tapes in a 3494 go to category FF00 which means "who wants to adopt me?"
Are there some additional parms now in TSM to allow the search=yes and
"tapes that begin with xxx" which work for a 3494? I admit I haven't

Thanks Orville. I did another test today. Here are the results. I think my
problem is the "SEARCH=YES" option. I will be leaving that off now. The
volumes that start with VT don't belong in my library. All of mine start
with AIX.

WHen I added capacity to a 3583 library I had to reboot the WIn2k server
itself to get the change recognized in TSM. I tried just restarting TSM, but
I think it was more of a SCSI/driver issue. After the reboot of the Win2k
server, TSM recognized the new slots.

The command line option -optfile is the easiest to use. On AIX this means
becoming familiar with the Server Stanza options in the dsm.sys file and
creating multiple stanzas.

I use TSM server 5.1.5 on SuSE 8.1 (no tapes connected) without problems in an
experimental environment. Now I got a tape charger and want to use it, but
the scsi driver is only for 2.4.18 kernel.

Looks like you have hit a 4gb limit. I forget the parm, but if you are using newfs or
mkfs to create database volumes, there is "largefiles" (I think) which allows file
sizes above 4gb.
Using solaris 8 here, and have two db volumes of 6gb each. Works fine.

Since upgrading to TSM 5.1.6.2 on AIX 4.3.3 I have now noticed my cache hit
percentage drops below 98% every day. Reset bufpool brings it back to
100.00% but after 24 hours it will again be below 98%. While on TSM 5.1.5.2
it was rarely below 98.5%. Has anyone else seen this behavior?

the soft file size limit? Been bit by this before. Setting it to -1
(negative one) removes any filesize limitations.

We have a customer with Oracle 9.2 RAC on a 32Bit AIX 5.1 w/ HACMP ES.
They are using TSM 5.1.5 and I've installed TDPO 2.2.1 32bit which came
in the CD pack.
RMAN is unable to bind to the TDPO (SBT_TAPE).

You will need to properly define the drive in your device config file (as

it. And after the restore, you'll need to delete the drives and library from

You could restore TSM DB to single DLT environment,I have done
this. After DB restored, you need to redefine Library, drive and path
in the current environment, ( Restore DB only remembers the environment
that DB was backup to, you need to do the brain wash).

You have had some sessions attempting to connect to your TSM service whilst
the restore was taking place.
When ever I have run dsmserv interactively for maintenance, I get automated
sessions on various clients attempting to connect and I get exactly the same
errors.

Error 2 is an AIX return code meaning "No such file or directory".
This is probably because /tsmdb/log1 does not exist. Did you use the DSMFMT
command to create this file?
I also noted a difference in filename between the command you issued and the
error returned. I assume this is a typo

Did you modify the /etc/security/limits and did you create the fs with the
large file enabled option ? I suggest to create a fs with allocation group
size of 64 MB and 131072 bytes per i-node.
