Hello Alex,
Did you label volume ITG001 yet? If it has not been labeled, you should not
use the checkin libvol command. Try the label libvol instead..
label libvol LB6.0.0.3 search=yes labelsource=barcode checkin=scratch
The server will then find the volumes that have not been checked into the

Hi Chuck,
The issue you speak of has always been in ADSM/TSM. The product didn't
examine and back up one file at a time. Rather, files would be grouped
into transactions based on TXNGROUPMAX and TXNBYTELIMIT settings. If,
during the processing of a transaction, one of the files targeted for that

Chuck,
ITSM 5.1 has a QUERY BACKUPSETCONTENTS command.
Since I'm just beginning to test backupsets, I'm not sure if that command
is in older versions of TSM.

Thanks for everyone's replies - I spoke with TSM Support a little while ago and found
out that indeed, the backup systemobject is redundant. Also that client 5.1.6 fixes a
hang condition on clients doing multiple sessions, which I am; I think this will fix
my problem.

Hi Andy,
I agree that TSM should report a failure when a file identified as a
candidate for backup is not able to be backed up. What I have a problem
with is that in ADSM v2.x and v3.x the files were backed up as they were
identified. Once we went to ADSM v4.x and now TSM v5x it seems to have

The "Client environment requirements" in the Windows client manual
provides a summary. More recent clients support more recent OS levels.

I've been to the TSM web site for downloading fixes and

At my shop they've upgraded a server cluster to Windows 2003 and are

Hi *SM-ers!
I have got two TDP for SQL 2.2 clients. On one of them I see two filespaces:

Both filespaces have a backup date <1, so that seems ok. The other node

Hello Joe and others,
The problem might be that your w2k client doesnt 'tell' that the scheduled
backup is complete when it contacts your TSM server, instead it starts
another scheduled backup i.e. it loops. Probably, you cant locally backup
system object either, client will crash.
