Hi all,
I would like to do some system monitoring on new TSM server on Solaris 5.9
before put it to production. I tried vmstat, netstat, prstat, and iostat
commands directed to logs and all is OK. I am monitoring disks by iostat (by
simple disk devices), but I need monitor TSM tape devices (throug
Wanda, you are correct. The copy in the copy pool may be fine, so the
backup version isn't really destroyed (assuming the copy in the copy pool
is still good). If a primary storage pool volume has damaged files,

Andy,
If the volume is audited with FIX=YES, BUT the file has a copy in a copy
pool, I don't think it gets deleted, does it?
Is it eligible for backup again in that case?
Thanks

Thanks for the explanation Andy - it makes sense. I am doing the
auditing with FIX=YES, so we should get another backup. I am hoping
this is not a very pervasive problem - I have not hit any other
"damaged" files yet.

Hi Andy,
When a volume is audited with FIX=NO, damaged files are marked as such,
but not deleted. In this case, damaged files are not automatically
eligible for backup again just by virtue of being damaged. Consider the
possibility that the "damage" could be temporary, such as if the drive on

Hello all!
I had moved a dozen nodes from a test to a production TSM server. They
received the default management class for backups which should expire in 60
days. The only thing that changed on the node was where the server would
be backing up to through the servername and tcpip server address.
3590s and AIX (with the appropriate level of Atape) support multi-path
I/O. If I remember right, multi-path I/O is not turned on by default.
Turn it on and let AIX worry about fail-over of paths and performance.

Does anyone have experience of migration from a Legato 6.1.3 (and a couple

Take a look at IBM Tivoli Storage Resource Manager. It has a chargeback
module that might interest you.

Hi Ted,
The '\*' is almost certainly being specified somewhere. Whether it is in
the domain statement, objects field of the schedule, file specification
from the command line, or client options set is immaterial.
On the 5.2 client that experiences the problem, what does the following
command show

Ted - Does 'dsmc q inclexcl' show any "interference" with that intention?

Hi,
I have a NAS device that I have been backing up successfully with TSM. Just recently I
have noticed that when I issue 'Q EVE * * BEGIND=-1' that the device has been 'Missed'.
If I look at the dsmerr.log I get the following output:
