Hi all,
I'm just about replacing an ITSM 5.1.7.3 server on AIX 4.3.3.0 ML10
(RS/6000 SP Power 2 node) with IBM Magstar 3575 L32 by an ITSM server
5.2.2.2 on AIX 5.2.0.0 ML02 (RS/6000 6C4) with IBM 3584 L32 (LTO2) and
fibre connected drives.
The transfer to the new ITSM
Hello TSM guru,
Normally, I did a tsm db backup to tape and managed to restore the database.
And also I have done tsm db backup to file devices class onto filesystem eg. /ldb. It
created the file /ldb/808454.dbb.
But how to restore ?
I tried the following command to restore but not

Abdullah,
correct name for parameter dbvol is vol. So your command should look like
this:
dsmserv restore db devclass=DISK-TMP vol=/ldb/84849157.dbb commit=yes

Hi Zaini,
Did you try dsmserv restore db devclass=DISK-TMP dbvol=84849157.dbb commit=yes
Your file volumes are created in /ldb folder, but file volume name is 84849157.dbb

Oh! you are correct Jozef. Correct command syntax would be;
dsmserv restore db devclass=DISK-TMP vol=84849157.dbb commit=yes
The dbvol in restore db command specifies the TSM database volume not the sequential
volume on which TSM database backup was taken.

Have been asked to restore a users mail from using TDP for Lotus
Notes.Apparently the number of active backups the server keeps has been
set to 3. How do you find this information ? Also when backups are older
than 3 days are they expired and then deleted from the server or marked as
inactive and
Hi Greetha!
How about checking out the 'IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Administrator Guide',
chapter 9 'Managing Storage Pools and Volumes'. Here you find a part called
'Defining a Copy Storage Pool'.

Rainer,
Your include statements should look like this:
INCLUDE *.NSF* MCNAME
INCLUDE *.NTF* MCNAME
Notice the additional * after NSF and NTF.
This is because a Data Protection for Lotus Domino
backup is made up of two TSM Server backup objects.
For example,
MAILFILE.NSF
Hi,
For one (SQL)-server, we get every night such messages:

Moses,
When performing Domino Server database file backups,
Data Protection for Domino uses standard TSM policy management.
That is, you can think of it like you do TSM policy management
for files when using the standard TSM Backup/Archive client.
If you are not familiar with how that works, you
Del,
thank you, after adding * to the include statements everything works fine

Has anyone or is anyone running the TSM client on Tru64 with TruCluster?
I am seeing frequent segfaults and IBM support says that TSM is not
supported
when running TruCluster.

We have a question on an issue that came on a Netware box, that a user
moved some
of directory tree from the original backup tree to another tree. Then we
had a restore request
for the original tree which was moved. So we could not find any files to
restore. We had the

A move of files is in effect a delete of the files in original location.
If you look at dsmsched.log for next backup after a move you
will see those files expiring.
Most likely answer is that they weren't being backed up to start with.
Maybe there was an exclude for this folder?

Thanks but there was no excludes on this box at all.
