We've been working with IBM Support on various issues we've had with
this version of the client V5.2.2.10.
We are reviewing this newer version and wonder if anyone has had any
issues?
Currently the majority of our Windows servers have TSM Client V5.1
installed. We realized a few months a

If you keep the tapes "outside the system", what do you do when there is
an opportunity to change tape technology in 5 years?
How do you migrate that data to new tapes?

The Admin Guide Chapter 17 has a summary which is the motivation for using
Active Directory to publish TSM information.
Basically this allows the specification of COMMETHOD ACTIVEDIRECTORY in

Hi All,
I have not been able to get the linux DSMCAD agent to run

In talking with a whole ton of people about this, this is the tentative

This is for document retention, so the recovery of a whole server isn't a
requirement. If I can get back a MSSQL database file, I can restore it
anywhere. Same goes for a .doc or .xls file - I don't need the whole server

Mike you don't have to move your database to enlarge it. if you add disk
space you can create new volumes and then you just extend the database over
these new volumes to gain the extra space that you need.
Ie: in our case we had to increase our database from 10 GB to 20 GB so this
is what we did.
same problem when server is at Version 5, Release 2, Level 3.0

the only point with AD I see is
once you change your TSM server (name and IP)
you do not have to edit your dsm.opt files to point to the new tsm server
