Here's a trap that you might like to avoid.
When editing a script using the TSM 5.3 admin centre, if the script contains >
or < characters these are replaced by their equivalent HTML escapes > and
<
I'd suggest that you not edit scripts via the admin centre.

When you do a database backup, do you specify type=full? The default is
incremental.
TSM will only let you delete up to the last FULL backup, because you need the
last full and all subsequent incrementals to get up to current date.

We have over 20 Windows 2000 Cluster servers. On all of these servers we have
to create 2 sets of all the services. One for the local drive and one for the
cluster. We have never run into the issue you are speaking of. We use the

I think this is the key to the problem here. Just looking at the volume
usage table doesn't really tell us where the active data lies. It may well
be that the active data being restored is only on a subset of those tapes.

I did figure it out before I received this response, and this was the
issue.
I put the correct slot number in the device config file and it worked.
I thought I had done that before, but starting over sometimes helps.

The slot # seems high for 3583.. not sure if this is normal for Windows..
Have you double checked the correct slot # for the database tape.
Also I would check from OS that you can query the smc0 device and tape
drive devices.

upgrade your TSM
Keep in mind that move nodedata will not move data to a different copy
stgpool.
Search the list for some options on doing this if you require to.

reallocated at the os level the first time they received data and I
would assume when they were reclaimed and reused. We just started using
