Check the occupancy table for the node, look for type of "Arch", or something like that. I'm not at a console right now or I'd know the exact values... Curtis Stewart Systems Engineer StorageTek [EMAIL PROTECTED] -Original Message- From: ADSM: Dist Stor Manager [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Upgrade 5.1 to 5.3 on new server

2005-08-08 Thread Dirk Kastens
Hi, we're running TSM 5.1 on AIX 5.1. We bought a new server with AIX 5.3 where we want to install TSM 5.3. What is the best way to migrate the data to the new server? Would it be possible to import the 5.1 database and server export files into the new server? Or do we first have to upgrade the o

Hi, I'm answering in reverce order: 2. You can restore DB only on the same type of Hardware (windows DB can be restored on Windows machine, AIX on AIX and etc.) 1. You can export and inport data and I think that this is good idea. You can make it in 2 ways. First - export to tapes and then import..

SMNP Monitoring again....

I know this has been asked many times... but our AIX box uses Sysedge as the SNMP Monitor not the base os SNMP. Anyone else using tsm's subagent with other SNMP daemons other than the default os agent? Are the SNMPSUBAGENTHOST, SNMPSUBAGENTPORT options only used if you're having multiple tsm serv

That's correct, you can't restore from traditionla drives to NSS drives. Your 100Mb card is o.k. but most likely your limit will be tapes (namely how spread out your data is over tapes). This is probably a file server so will be a lot of files spread out over a lot of tapes. 1Gb card may help (i

You actually cannot restore any kind of Traditional Volume files to NSS (compressed or not). Even when going from TV's to TV's, or NSS to NSS, if the source volume was compressed, the target volume also has to be compressed. There is not, unfortunately, any TSM way to uncompress the files as y

There's several ways you could do this migration, but the way I would do it is: 1. upgrade the old server to TSM 5.3, after backing up the DB of course. I wouldn't bother putting the ISC on the old box at this time, it's not needed to get TSM up to 5.3. Note - The last upgrade of TSM from 5.1 t

I've done some experimentation. So far, I've found that TSM will not backup a filesystem image for a fs mounted from /dev/fssnap/N, but it will backup the image as a raw image. This then raises the question of consistency -- making sure that a given filesystem is backed up with the same name every
