Hi Justin,
We use TSMManager which is an excellent tool for query the database and
produce graphic stats for the managers.
You could download a 30 day trail or buy the product (it's not that
expensive!!)
Succes.

Hi,
if you have the network monitor nagios in your company, you can use this
software in combination with e.g. nagiosgrapher to monitor TSM and to
graph stats. It's free opensource software.
I wrote some nagios-checks for monitoring vital parameters (e.g. free

Ha I need a tool that lets me query the TSM data base without over loading
the server and
pull out dat for graphing stats for backups, to show trends ?
Any tools out there ? freeware ?
Thanks

Thanks for the reminder. When we set it up, we made reference to the IBM
Technote # 1167834 which explains set up in an MSCS environment more
eloquently than I perhaps did. PreserveDbOnExit is discussed here as well
as in Appendix C of the Windows client Installation & User Guide. We
decided

Basically it depends on whether or not the PreserveDbOnExit setting
is on or not.

We have done journal-based backups on MSCS. There is no need for multiple
journal services - one per cluster node is sufficient. The idea is to have
each one configured to journal any file system on which you desire JBB, but
suppress the errors if the resource is not actually on line on tha
Hello all,
has someone of you implemented multiple journal services on a Microsoft
cluster for the shared file systems?
Any tips for me?
Thank you,

Tom, look at http:\\www.commvault.com. They have a product which
provides the ability to recover sharepoint at the document-level.

We're looking at both Microsoft Sharepoint Portals and SAP Portals.
Our management has a requirement that individual documents be recovered
from backups in the event of deletion.
SAP Portals (netweaver) uses an Oracle database as a storage agent and
Microsoft uses SQL server.

Thank you Frank ... I will try it

I would try lowering the Cache Memory Threshold in increments of 5, and
see if that helps at some point. The newer tsa's are known to sometimes
have memory issues. The config file doesn't take affect dynamically

Morning all,
We are running TSM 5.2.6 (AIX) using an IBM 3494 library. Occasionally
we have see the following situation occur - a process or session

Could you post what your smsstart.ncf file & tsa.cfg file look like? In
case you're not familiar with it, the tsa.cfg is in sys:\etc\sms.

We have multiple IBM 3583s and IBM 3584s with LTOs 1,2, and 3s... we have

straight forward, you need to read the vendors manuals and recommendations

Our remote site libraries are Overland Storage NEO 4200 with 2 HP LTO2

are with the remote libraries. We have had some of our NEOs for almost
three years now
Hello James
What make/model of libraries/drives and the firmware levels are you using.
We have an 3584 with lto-2 drives that were very free of problems for the
first year or so. But now we are seeing more and more errors. The errors
change as we change the firmware level on the drives.

That is my experience. We went from DLT libraries to LTO libraries at
our remote sites and now we are working on libraries every week!
