I would like to know is that the system objects backup is good enough to

Winnt\system32\config\SAM
Winnt\system32\config\SECURITY

Get the documentation. It describes several different methods of backing up a
VM. Shutting down the VM, pausing the VM and using a
functioin "ADDREDO" which leaves the VM running and changed blocks are
written/saved to the redo file. At the end of the backup you
issue a COMMIT of the redo log int

We see this error once in a while and I'm wondering if anyone has any
particular insight as to the cause. Here is what I found in the TSM server
log that I'm guessing caused the report. The backup ran for 1:43 minutes
before this happened and did complete with the failure. If it is not maybe

This is part of the new ESX 3 server. There are different processes for backing
up ESX 2.x servers. If you go to the TSM support
page and search on VMWARE you will find this one in particular which has a lot
of links to resources on both IBM and Vmware sites.

Just as clarification on this, I know it's available for Virtual
Infrastructure 3, but I don't think you can use it with ESX 2.x. Or
have I already been proven wrong on that?

My understanding was that the IBM drives were more robust, because
they used no plastic parts.

Using the VMware Consolidated backup you can do file level backups of
windows machines and system backups of other clients. There is
documentation on the VMware website about how to do this.

I'm preparing for our annual DR test and this will be the first time

I do only have one default gateway. The thing I was trying to get someone to
explain to me was, why the default gateway I originally put in when I
configured the system has changed twice wit
Hi Eric,
Data Protection clients do not have a "new release" (or even a PTF)
near as often as the BA client does. But, there are still situations
like this where we try to get customers the support they need,
as soon as we can. Sometimes that means, putting this kind of support
into a fix release.

Hello,
We use TSM 5.3.2.2 on clinet side and 5.3.1 on server side. On client on W2K3
server we use journalling. Our problem is during backup versioning does not
work properly. It backups up same files as much as the version given in
management class.
Is there anyone who had a similar problem?
Hi Del!
Thank you very much for your quick reply!
I wasn't expecting new support in a fix release... Wouldn't it be more
logical to create a 5.2.2.0 version containing 2005 support? Now we have
to backup production nodes by using a fix release, which I normally
would not recommend...

Hello Allen,
We did not use this solution.
Our netapp sales person a little while ago proposed using the bus-tech solution
with a netapp backend store. As Netapp sells this solution. But our MVS (z/os)
folks did not want to look at this solution.

Howdy, all.
We've periodically talked about MVS backups, and how they just don't
mesh well with TSM's filesystem-oriented attitude.
Well, I've stumbled on something in the process of pursuing a
tape-abatement project which shows early signs of being a nice back
door into TSM treatment of MVS back
You should only have one default gateway. All other routing can be
taken care of with route statements. Having one default gateway will
make the system predictable.

Hi,
Maybe you could use the -tab (or
the -comma) option of dsmadmc
to get what you want.
It gives you the output on one

some formatting to make it readable.

Hi,
VMFS and especially VMFS3 is special file system with implemented only
some functions of classic FS, so probably backup using tivoli will
never work, or never work correctly.
Try vmware tools (integrated backup or something like) for tivoli,

Hi *SM-ers!
As far as I can find, DP for SQL Server 5.2.1 is the most recent version
for backing up SQL Server databases. It support SQL Server 7.0 and 2000.
Does anybody know when SQL Server 2005 will be supported by DP for SQL?

Hi TSM'ers,
in addition to my post resp "Pending & Full" I'd like to ask for the
following:
If I force reclamation runs from stgp A to stgp B, i.e. from tape to tape
it takes a lot of time because of "Start-Stop" of the tapes.
Questions:
1. Is there a better way to achieve the same result (e.g.
Gateways can send IPCMP redirects which cause static routes to be added
to adapters, This may be the case. It's the gateways way of telling you
their is a more direct path to the destination.
