We currently perform MS SQL database backups using TDP (using the
tdpsqlc backup * full command)
We then use Enterprise Manager to run a log backup (using the BACKUP LOG
command) followed by a log shrink job (using the DBCC SHRINKFILE
command)
Is there a way to do all of these within TDP for SQL?
Hi Richard, thanks for the rapid reply,
I didn't see anything at dsmerror.log, but I will see at dsmwebcl.log it
should be something there...
I didn't execute the q opt (I didn't know that it exists), but when I

Review your dsmerror.log and dsmwebcl.log logs for detected error

When changing client options, always verify their correctness via
'dsmc q opt', and include-exclude specifications via 'dsmc q inclexcl'.

Hi,
Has anyone had problem with the client 5.3.4, and with java?

My client updated the java plugin last week, it seems that this version

So that config's a no-brainer; pop in your LTO3 drives, mark all you LTO1

It's a poor thing that TSM didn't give a way to substitute completly inclexcl
file option via CLOPSET
An other point is that it not possible to use many CLOPSET at a time on the
same node.

Hi,
I've registered the lic file to tsmee.lic, but i want to go back to
tsmbasic.lic, how can I do that?
If memory serves me, this is the way ADSM licensing was back in the
1.2 days. Except back then I believe the server would eventually cut
you off if you ran out of license, and you couldn't just register
another license without paying for it.
IMHO, the danger with capacity-based (or data-based) l
Kurt,
Thanks for describing the fix. I've often wondered if a simple restart
would work. I, like others, usually delete all and redefine all.

Oh, Rick, such a dreamer! Let's not confuse a rational pricing model
for a backup product with the TSM licensing scheme.

Hi Pierre,
No, you cannot use client option sets to specify the INCLEXCL option.
On UNIX systems, INCLEXCL is controlled in dsm.sys, so the system
administrator has some level of control there.
It should also be noted that INCLEXCL is cumulative, like DOMAIN, INCLUDE

I've got it solved finally. The new added slots on the physical library
were not yet allocated to the logical partition TSM is using. Which
explains why TSM didn't find them.
A simple restart of TSM did discover the new added slots afterwards.

I have a devc called FILECLASS based on DEVT FILE,
and I got a STGPOOL based on this DEVC
and when I perform migration to tapes (to an STG based on
DEVC=LTO2CLASS, DEVT=LTO)
I see that two processes (out of 3) are waiting for a mount in DEVC FILECLASS:
