Thank you Andy.
That looks like the same problem we are having. Time for an upgrade.

Subject: Re: Slow restore
Never having done this I am curious if anyone has actually created a
backupset from a instance of the TSM server running on AIX for a client
running on Windows.
What was the removable device used?
Hi Steve,
As you surmised, the 2 GB limit is not entirely arbitrary. While I cannot
formally announce or commit to anything, upping the limit is currently on
the radar screen, but not in the near future. It is still "iffy" enough
that it could also fall off the radar screen, so take with a grain o
Hi All,
We were creating the backupsets using virtual volumes on z/os
environment.
Now, while migrating to z/linux, we are trying to export the backupset
nodes...
The source server reports that:

BACKGROU
Have a look at APAR IC49469 (follow the link in my sig and enter the APAR
number); this might be the problem you are seeing.

Q ACTLOG can be searched using MSGno, Search string, nodename, client or
server originated messages, by domain/sched/session...
If you wish to search by multiple strings, I think it is better to dump
it to a file and play around using your string handling capabilities...

If you mean to somehow look at all the storage pool tapes and rebuild
the TSM db contents therefrom, the basic answer is No. In such a

If by "multiple criteria" you mean specifying, for example, multiple MSGNO
parameters, then the answer is "no". As an alternative, you can use SELECT
with the ACTLOG table to do that type of query.

if you are using a TSM server level 5.3.2.0 and higher, you can use the
following command
repair stgvol volname= -> this is a not
documented command !!!
you will find the ouput of the command within the activity-log ... like

Hi all,
We currently have TSM 5.2 running on a standalone IBM server (7028-6C4/
OS: AIX 5200-02). We need to migrate to a new LPAR on our P590 that
runs on OS: 5300-05-CSP.
We plan to install TSM 5.4 and use LAN free backup instead of LAN
backup. Has anyone of you done this migration in the
