The return code 610 says that the message catalog (dscenu.txt) cannot be found. I suspect you have the DSMI_DIR environment variable configured to point to the old location, so that is why the problem occurs. HAVING SAID THAT, you should be aware of a new APAR that was just opened, IC56403 (text b

Thanks Jerry. I thought I am the only one experiencing the hiccups from the TSM client 5.5 upgrade issues with DB2. The following is what IBM said . DB2 has to be restarted. If it has not it must be. This is because the DB2 logger manager loads the API in its memory when it runs its first

Not announced yet. Normally they support 2 versions at any one time; right now it's 5.4 and 5.5. If history repeats, they will announce the EOL for 5.4 about the time that V6 becomes available, which is expected 4Q this year or 1Q2009. On 5/2/08, Richard Mochnaczewski <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:

Yes as Bob said, Gresham's Clareti Backup Virtualization Storage Director does library consolidation where it can make multiple small libraries look like one or fewer libraries to TSM. This is also helpful if you have multiple de-dup boxes since it can consolidate them into one or fewer virtual li

Windows MS Cluster TSM Client upgrade

Hello all, Is there a correct procedure to do a TSM client upgrade on a Windows MS Cluster configuration? I currently would like to upgrade the client from 5.3.2 to 5.5.0.2 or 5.5.0.4 I know all of TSM services should be stopped but not sure how. It seems I can't stop TSM Services at the same t

No, you can't configure the two libraries as one for several reasons, one of which is they have slightly different commands, and formats. The other is that if a tape in Library 1 was requested to be mounted in a drive in library 2 the request would bomb, and the tape would be set to unavailable.

I suspect you can get around this by updating environment variables before you run the restore command. Maybe something like: set DSMSERV_DIR="%SYS%\Program Files\tivoli\tsm\server2" set DSMSERV_CONFIG="%SYS%\Program Files\tivoli\tsm\server2\dsmserv.opt" set DSMSERV_LOG="%SYS%\Program Files\tivoli

We have had the same issue with the API Dir and DB2. Support has a work around, the fix hasn't gone through all the official tests but it's just the API compiled without a couple of the enhancements made in 5.5 (enhancements that didn't affect the API anyway). Several customers have used it with s
