how to license tsm / tdp for oracle on vmware cluster?

hello, no one can exactly tell us, how many tsm or tsm for database licenses we have to buy for one oracle server as virtual machine on a vmware cluster which has 4 nodes (servers, esx). In case of failure, this virtual machine is moved automatically to another node on the vmware cluster. in my

Do a search from the IBM TSM software site, and / or call your IBM rep and get in touch with your TSM licensing rep. THAT is THE best way. However, in your situation all you have to pay for is the ONE VMWare server its running on. Since you are not running an active/active cluster the DB can

TSM Scheduler Hang

2008-09-26 Thread Huebner,Andy,FORT WORTH,IT
We have started seeing the Scheduler service on Windows hang. The backup stops processing, the Schedule stays started, but nothing happens. The fix for now is to stop the scheduler and restart the acceptor. This is only happening on a few of the servers and they do not seem to have much in

Since you are investing time in upgrading the client, why not go with the 5.3.6 on the w2K boxes, and 5.5.1 on the 2003 boxes? A 5.4 server will handle 5.5 clients, and you will not have to go back to the 2003 servers when you upgrade your TSM server. I remember having this problem on some

Windows GUI - unusably slow

2008-09-26 Thread Zoltan Forray/AC/VCU
We have come upon a strange issue with the Windows GUI client. It takes 10+ minutes to transition from startup to each screen. From the time you click to start it up, it takes 10-minutes before you get the login prompt. Then is jumps in immediately. If you go to the setup wizard to configure

Check the NIC switch settings - make sure they are set to FULL DUPLEX, not Autodetect. Also try FTP to/from the TSM server, see if you get reasonable results. And check if you are behind a firewall. On Fri, Sep 26, 2008 at 1:58 PM, Zoltan Forray/AC/VCU [EMAIL PROTECTED]wrote: We have come

Thanks for the suggestions. Not behind a firewall nor running one since this box has a private connection to the backup server. This just started recently. It has been working. No, I do not know what changed. Supposedly nothing other than the usual Windows patches. FTP not allowed. Not running

Maybe already discussed, but were some of the most recent patches relative to VSS? Since you tested with two versions of the client, I can guarantee, but I remember having such problems several months ago, when the client would query VSS on start, and each query took several minutes. After 5 to

One; licensing is by physical cores. Throw up as many VM clients as you want; you still just pay for the cpus (cores) on the physical box. On Fri, Sep 26, 2008 at 7:18 PM, cpreston [EMAIL PROTECTED]wrote: Kelly Lipp wrote: Most folks are using the TSM Client/Agent within the VM to do
