Hi,
I have two questions about TDPO for AIX.
Question 1: We must use sbt_tape in RMAN. Is Tivoli Data Protection for
Oracle limited to send the RMAN backup data to tape or disk storage pools
are possible?
Question 2: How is it licensed? Is register lic file=oracle.lic number=X
enough in TSM
1. it is not limited, the segregation is done on server level or client level
2. it licensed on server side (AFAIK)

I am having a problem with the TSM Scheduler of a windows server. It stops
sometimes by itself in the middle of a backup of files. The weird thing is
that in the same server I have a scheduled TDP SQL backup, but the scheduler
service works without problem.
There is a .LIC file that gets installed as part of the paid-for TDP
installation package. It's in the TDP install directory. You don't get this
.LIC file as part of the maintenance packages you download on the
FTP.SOFTWARE.IBM.COM. You need to get the base-level as part of your
Passport Agreement

We are having problems here with scheduled backups hanging. It happened
on rare occassions prior to upgrading to 5.5.1, but it began happening
with great frequency on certain Windows boxes after the upgrade.

If you need ammo for scrapping with your Windows brethren, remind them that TSM
uses no OS APIs that aren't supplied by Windows itself. If they changed
something in the OS, that's what broke.

When Windows 2003 SP2 hangs during backups I first verify it has patch KB948496.
Having you tried blaming the network? :

Hello all,
I am trying to start the dsmcad for this client and the server name is
in the System options file, however I keep getting the error below
saying Server name not found has anyone had this issue?

Tim,
you need to add the following to the top of your dsm.sys
SErvername TSMSERVERA
Then the commethod, tcpport etc. will be part of that SERVERNAME stanza.
This allows you to define several different configurations in a single
dsm.sys and refer to each by sourcing a different dsm.opt.
You need the Servername line at the tope of your dsm.sys file that
matches the servername line in the DSM.opt file.

Is this a *nix system and is the info below from your DSM.SYS file and I
assume you xxed out the addresses to keep them private?
If so, add a statement at the beginning that goes:SErvername
server_a
Then create the DSM.OPT file in the same directory and put one sentence in
it that
This sounds very close to the:
ANS1353E (RC53) Session rejected: Unknown or incorrect ID entered
This problem can be caused if the register node was not done correctly.
In order for proxy authority to work, you must have as admin node of
Client Owner
admin privilege for the DP/Exchange node.
just create empty dsm.opt in $DSM_HOME

You are given 4 spindles to place TSM DB on them.
How would you set them up to squeeze maximum performance for DB?
1. Dedicate each spindle for a DBC (result: 3 DBCs, one spindle left
out, nevermind)
2. Create RAID 0 out of each pair of disks. Place a DBC on each RAID
