Yes, and remember to put the smaller drives at the head of the line in the library. That way the smaller tapes can move up to the smaller drives and the larger ones will stay at the bottom. I've noted over time that TSM will use the drives in order from 01 down, and if you have the larger ones

Check how long the Journal service has been up or how big the JDB is. We have a server that needs Journaling restarted about every other month, so we restart it on the weekend about once a month. I am guessing you know that journaling is not active until a backup completes after a restart.

I do not mean different drives, but different cartridges of different LTO generations. e.g a library has two LTO4 drives and mix of LTO4 and LTO3 cartridges.
