Steve, would you be able to provide some TSM server instrumentation for me
to look at? 18 hours for an EXPORT in 18 hours works out to about 31MB/sec.
What we normally expect out of an LTO3 drive is perhaps 50MB/sec (so we can
use this as a guideline). Could you gather some server instr and send it
Hi All
I have a need to export 3x2TB databases to tape and import them at a second
site. This is being done to set up application level replication between
the two sites and so there is a time constraint.
My test export to tape of a full backup of one of these (a single file)
took 18 hours, impo
The generic service is how you setup a custom service as a cluster resource.
This is what allows TSM to follow Cluster1.
You will run three backups, if the dsm.opt files are setup correctly on all
three, there will not be a repeat of any file system.
There are good docs on the steps required.
Agreed.
The backups for node1 run all the time and back up local resources.
The backups for node2 run all the time and back up local resources.
The cad/scheduler for Cluster1 must be set up and configured on both
nodes.
But you use the Microsoft cluster mgmt application to make this a

Just making sure I understand this correctly.

There are two nodes in the cluster, node1 and node2.
The resource group name is cluster1.
I now need the following to back up correctly.

Thanks so much
yoda, thanks for your reply. I understand what your saying about not
backing up the host. However if the client wants it backed up can we
use the Tivoli Linux client and if so is there anything special we would
need to do regarding the dsm.sys file? include/excludes?

Make sure you are verifying via 'dsmc quer
Hi,
Yes you can do that. both with 1 library or with 2 libraries.
With 1 Library
If you only have 1 library (TS3500) you can either partition the library to 2
libraries (see the next session then) or you can use 1 library and do following
steps.

Haven't you encountered difficulties in check-in /check-out process? Any
confusion for operators?
Hello,
Yes you can. I do it with LTO3 i500 library as a copy pool and ts3500 with lto4
as primary pool.

Hi all,
Can I define a primary and a copy pool on a TS3500 with LTO5 drives with the
following conditions:
- primary pool uses LTO5 cartridges
- copy pool uses LTO4 cartridges (because the library in D/R site has LTO4
drives)
Thanks
