Hi,
How do you enable persistent bindings to tape devices in Linux with TSM. Is
everyone using Sandiscovery or writing their own udev rules, other options?

I have a related issue...
I have a new primary stg pool and a new copy pool.
I have also an 'old' primary pool and an 'old' copy pool.
There is no new data arriving in the 'old' primary pool because backup data
is send to the 'new' primary pool. This data is of course copied to the new
copy pool.
Ther is no other solution. You can only speed up process:
1) expiry will remove the oldest data from old primary and copy pools;
2) you can migrate the newest data slowly from old primary pool th new primary
pool;
3) after completion of moving/expirying of old primary pool just remove all
* Backup old prim stg to new copy stg = short time extra tape storage
needed
* delete old copy stg volumes = free up old copy volumes
* migrate old prim stg to new prim stg = take all the time you need

Karel,
I think you are right.
I should copy the old primary pool firstly to the new copy pool (and
accept the high number of scratch used) BEFORE I migrate the data from old
primary stg to new primary stg.
It seems that there is no other solution.
Thanks for the feedback.
Best regards /
Does anyone have experience with configuring a Spectra Logic T950 tape library
with LTO5 drive on RedHat Linux (64 bit)? We have tried the IBM drivers and
the tape drives become visible and communicate at the OS level and can be
configured into TSM (6.2), but we are unable to label any tapes.
Hi to all
Did anybody installed TSM version 6.2.1 on a Linux operating system and which
one and what configuration?
My configuration is around 250 Clients , 40 TDP (Sql, Oracle, Exchange, Sap)
and ~ 70 Tera data and 80 GB tsm database
Till now working with 2 servers Aix and Windows
Why not just configure your old primary pool to use the new primary pool as its
next stg pool and migrate. Then perform a backup stg pool from the new
primary to your new copy pool? Once all data has been migrated and backed up,
delete the old pools

Joerg, I checked with development on this. Are you doing this with a dedup
storage pool? They did have one APAR for that 2 months ago. I would first
suggest getting a PMR opened; if you do that, I can pursue it.

I had this happen when I attempted to use a lin_tape version that was built on
a different kernel. Did you rpmbuild --rebuild the src lin_tape?

Hi Dave. The two situations where I am experiencing this are non-dedupe
environments. Both installations have a copypool using devclass=vv (devclass
vv is a server device type device class). In both situations there is a
vvpool - vvtape storage pool hierarchy on the target server such that

Yes, we rebuilt it. Is this RPM isn the IBM drivers?
